CPTL Journals
The Center for Political Thought and Leadership proudly exhibits our two research journals: Compass: An Undergraduate Journal of American Political Ideas and The Starting Points journal. Learn more about each, read their articles, and submit a paper!
Compass is an undergraduate journal of American political ideasĀ online and provides a space for the work of talented undergraduates who have original and well-articulated insights on important ideas and issues relating to American democracy understood in the broad contexts of political philosophy, history, literature, economics, and culture. Compass is a joint project of the Tocqueville Forum at Northern Illinois University and the Center for Political Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University.
Starting Points is a project of the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri, in partnership with the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University. In keeping with the mission of the Kinder Institute, Starting Points aims to foster an understanding of the principles of the American political tradition among academics and citizens in a non-partisan and interdisciplinary manner.
